This Virginia Birthplace of American Liberty America 250 T-Shirt salutes the state's tremendous role in the forging of freedom and a new nation

 Patrick Henry’s fiery call, “Give me liberty or give me death!”, delivered in Richmond in 1775, helped ignite the colonies toward full rebellion. Virginia also provided essential political leadership through Washington’s command of the Continental Army and Jefferson’s writing of the Declaration of Independence.

When it came to actual warfare, Virginia played a decisive role as the site of the final major battle of the war—the Siege of Yorktown in 1781. It was there that Washington’s Continental forces and allied troops trapped British General Cornwallis. The British surrender at Yorktown effectively ended the war, securing American independence.
