The 2025 season will mark the second year that the College Football Playoffs will feature a 12-team field.  This year's group will include the five highest-ranked conference champions and the next highest ranked teams for slots six through 12.

While a national championship is the ultimate goal for the participating teams, a berth in the CFP is marked as a tremendous achievement.  Fans are eager to display their school spirit and excitement as they order and wear College Football Playoffs T-Shirts that feature the official CFP logo, team logos and team colors.

December 7th is Selection Sunday

Congratulations to the 12-team field announced on December 7th.  The top four seeds earn a first-round bye and include:

• Texas Tech
• Indiana
• Georgia
• Ohio State

The remaining seeds include No. 5, Oregon, No. 6 Ole Miss, No. 7 Texas A&M, No. 8 Oklahoma, No. 9 Alabama, No. 10 Miami, No. 11 Tulane and No. 12 James Madison. 

The 12-team field will be announced at 3:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.  The date correlates perfectly with Christmas shopping as College Football Playoff merch makes a wonderful present to put under the tree.

The 2025 CFP Field is Forming

The CFP title chase kicks off on 12/19 with four first round on-campus games being played that weekend.  The quarterfinals take place 12/31-1/1 and will incorporate the Cotton, Orange, Rose and Sugar Bowls.

The Semifinals will be played Jan 8-9 through the Fiesta and Peach Bowls.   The 2025 College Football Playoffs Championship Game will be played Jan. 19 at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium.
